Our Philosophy
Children are naturally creative, resourceful, and deeply fascinated by the world around them. They learn best by touching, building, and physically exploring their environment. Unfortunately, traditional classrooms often ask young children to sit still and listen, which can quickly stifle that joyful, natural curiosity.
At Discovery Center, we do things differently. We believe that children should be actively involved in their own education. Instead of learning abstract concepts from a whiteboard or a worksheet, our students grasp new ideas naturally by handling and manipulating real objects.
We provide a space where children are free to move, explore, and even make safe mistakes so they can learn directly from them. We don’t believe that sitting quietly in a chair is always "good," or that movement and joyful noise are "bad." By giving children the freedom to try things their own way, they learn to trust their own judgment. Ultimately, we help them develop independence, creative problem-solving skills, and a genuine, lifelong love of learning.
Our Curriculum
Our modified Montessori approach offers the best of both worlds: individualized attention during learning center time—allowing children to progress at their own pace—combined with engaging group activities that build focus, listening skills, and social-emotional growth.
While traditional Montessori methods are excellent for building academic and motor skills, we intentionally add more opportunities for language development and group learning in a classroom setting to fully prepare our students for elementary school.
Academics & Active Exploration
Children move freely between dedicated learning centers for math, language, science, and art. In each area, a specialized teacher gently guides them through hands-on educational materials, allowing them to learn actively and at their own pace.
Group Activities & Community
We include daily group activities to help children practice essential classroom skills, like active listening, taking turns, and being mindful of their friends. Teachers lead engaging, collaborative sessions in art, dance, yoga, cooking, storytelling, drama, and music.
Language & Communication
Practice, practice, practice! Whether a child is a native English speaker or just starting to learn, they are constantly encouraged to talk and interact. Children learn to express their ideas, play collaboratively, negotiate, and use gentle words to navigate disagreements.
Social and Emotional Learning (SEL)
We support your child's emotional growth using Second Step, a recognized curriculum from the USA. This dedicated program helps children understand their feelings, build empathy, and develop strong, healthy relationships.
Our Teachers
Experienced & Qualified Educators: Our lead teachers hold university degrees in education or related fields, backed by years of hands-on classroom experience. To ensure the highest quality of instruction, every teacher must have at least two years of experience in an English-speaking school before they can lead a class.
Fluent English Environment: Our entire teaching team speak English, with our main teachers communicating fluently.
Specialized Early Childhood Training: We believe in continuous learning for our staff. All teachers receive in-depth training and certification in key areas, including the Montessori method, early mathematics, literacy and reading, child development, and even preschool yoga.
Health & Safety First: Your child's well-being is always our top priority. Every single teacher is First Aid certified through SOS Medika, with mandatory training and renewals completed every two years.
