Kindergarten 1 Program

For children 4 years old*

In this program, children are encouraged to build on their academic skills, working toward higher achievement through teacher-guided learning centers and group activities.

​

​Key areas of growth:

• Social and Emotional Skills: Social skills mature as children learn to negotiate, use words to resolve conflicts kindly and to handle disappointment.  

• Literacy and Storytelling: Students finalize learning phonic sounds and move to reading beginner books. Other skills include vocabulary work and creatively drawing pictures and making stories about them.  

• Mathematics: Building on number recognition and counting, children are introduced to more advanced math concepts.

• Confident Public Speaking: Communication skills are developed through practice as children learn to speak confidently in front of a group of friends.

• Discovery: Students investigate their world, exploring science and social science concepts like dental health, earth science, astronomy, and geography.

• Writing Skills: Children continue to build writing by practicing both upper and lower-case letters. They continue to use inventive spelling when writing stories

• Gross Motor Skills: Children conquer more complex physical tasks in individual and group settings.
